Default goldfish floating help!!!!

My parents decided to start a tank with goldfish and I tell them not to feed them floating fods because I have heard that they cause problems. Now two of the goldfish float at the top of the tank and have problems going down to the bottom of the tank. We are going to get sinking food but will the fish continue to float up or will it wear off? Thanks!

I would feed them a boiled skinned pea or two, then not feed them for a couple of days, they should go back to normal. Make sure the water parameters are good, goldfish produce a lot of ammonia.

The peas help clear the digestive system.

ditto the above , and in future just soak the goldfish food prior to putting in the tank. do this for pellets flakes etc.....and the floaties should go. As lotus said try and feed a varied diet especially peas , blanched lettuce etc....and this will clear the digestive tract and keep em healthy

Are they floating up or at the surface because of ammonia/nitrites?
