fish suggestions...

I currently have a room temp(73F) 10 gallon tank setup with 2 White Cloud Minnows. They are fairly old and I'm not sure how long they have any more. So I'm thinking about what I can do with this tank.

I want to keep it setup the same way that it currently is, very basic. I have a double sponge filter, a few silk plants, a medium sized swim-through decoration, and about a third of the bottom has gravel(I can always add more if needed). I also just added a small piece of live floating anacharis just to see how it will do. For lighting I am only using one bulb right now, a 13 watt fluorescent.

I've been thinking about what other types of fish could go in this tank, currently and for the future(after the White Clouds pass on).
I haven't really come up with much, just more White Clouds, Danios, Guppies, or some type of native fish.

Any suggestions towards what types of fish I could add to this tank would be appreciated. If you know of any small native PA fish, please let me know.

what about male guppies. their colors r beautiful.
once my 90 gal fishtank has been set up i will transfer my goldies in it, retain my tropicals in d 30 gal & i will buy more male guppies for d 30 gal.

there aren't many fish that will stay happy long term in an unheated tank. The ones you mentioned would probably be ok...but I dont really have any other suggestions. You could get danios and pull the one danio you have out of the 25 and get him some pals? I dont think a 10 is big enough for a goldfish really...tho it may be ok for one goldie for awhile?

The tank actually does have a heater, but I have it set to the current room temperature(winter). So the heater has never come on, not even during the night.
The tank is in a hallway room that has no windows and is in the center of the house, so the temperature in the room is very stable. Come the summer months, the tank's temp will slowly rise to around 81F, but then it be steady at that temp for a few months.

If you prefer to not heat the tank above ambient temperature but it's at least in the low 70's, you may wish to consider red phantom tetras also. There aren't many fish which do well in this middlin' zone which can be in a 10 as Froggy said, you've pretty much covered it. Some barbs, i.e., rosy barbs, also do fine in cooler tanks.

Thanks for all the suggestions, but that tank is no longer being used as a coolwater tank.

My three yellow "female" Platies have matured and one of them is finally showing his true sex. I thought it would be interesting to see what color fry they would produce, so I set up the tank for the two pregnant females.
On Friday I saw some fry, which I wasn't expecting yet, since the first batch was just 18 days earlier(they didn't survive the other fish in the main tank).
I now have only the 8 fry(maybe more) in this ten gallon tank. I moved the females back to the main tank as soon as I spotted the fry.
