hi all... i haf been keeping goldfish for many years.. but everyone i knows told mi its impossible to differentiate male or female in the case of goldfish .. is this truth ?

I've hear different opinions myself. In fancies, I am not sure - but comet males are supposed to be narrower (thinner) and usually have white little bumps (like pimples) on their gills. Comet females tend to be wider (bigger tummies) and no bumps on her gills.
