Default Red Cap Orandas

I have been an aquarist for several years, but have just recently purchased some RCOs. They are precious to watch. I designed their tank with exact replicas of pagodas from China and a group of colorful lilies.

Within the last few weeks one of the RCOs is changing colors. I think someone had told me it had to do with their sex. Both are red cap and pure white body unti the one started having an orange band around the gills and neck. The band starts where the red cap stops.

I'm hungry please feed me some information. TIA,

I read somewhere that non-solid orange ones usually change patterns as they grow. Oranda's have a really ackward way of swimming. They look like they are waddling or something. Its freakin' adorable, like a puppy that trips over its feet running to you!
