If bristlenose plecos cost that much around here I would get one! holy crap, those are cheap! Oh, and the $10 common pleco-- it was about 2 inches.
for my 20 I'm either gonna get chinese hillstream loach (aka stingray pleco) or 2 otos.

you could get more otos than that for a 20 gallon. probably 3, maybe 4 if you have tons of algae growing and bright lights to sustain it. also be prepared to feed them daily once you stop seeing algae in the tank.

Don't get a Hill Stream Loach. I know how tempting it is, but they are verrrrrryyyyy hard to keep healthy & alive.

I'd save up for a B/N and consider it your first expensive fish. I spent 20$ on 2 Clown Plecos, so, it's not un-manageable, just worth saving for. Oh - get one with a ton of bristles, they look cooler[they are males].

Have a great day. I've got tomorrow to live through, then the day after is my birthday! I'm requesting some new fish though!!

well happy birthday and i hope you get what you want ! lol
and to the OP, the hardier the fish you can get the better.
eventually i think all us fish keepers have to move on to more exotic fish and more challanges, be it plants ,new tanks etc. (MTS)
i never would have thought i would love this hobby as much as i do. even with all the work it can involve.
thats all, lol
later
