HOT PINK albino strawberry peacock!!!!

I just bought a HOT PINK albino strawberry peacock mbuna male. He is gorgeous!!! But... I put him in my tank and he looks exptremley stressed, he hasn't eaten for the 3 days I have had him and his breathing looks labored. I have done water changes since I have had him and my water perameters are perfect. I do have alot of fish in the tank and I had bought a demasoni female that was holding, I stripped her before putting her in the tank... she flourished for about 6 weeks then quit eating and eventually died. I dont want this to happen to my new pretty boy... is there any suggestions to reduce his stress???

PS I bought another male of a different variety at the same time and he seems to be doing fine, he has even started to challenge my dominate male.

So... agian, if there is any suggestions about reducing his stress I would greatly appreciate it!!

Your previous post's indicate approx, 35 african cichlids in a 60 gal. If I had that many fish, I would be extra careful about quarantining any new fish before I added them to my tank yet you make no mention of it. Is possible that the new fish had health issues when purchased. Also possible that new fish is still new to the surroundings and colors will return when the fish feels more comfortable. I'm tryimg to wrap my mind around the maint that must be required to maintain your cichlid tank to achieve" perfect "water parameters. I would expect it to be difficult to keep NitrAte levels at low levels.What type of filtration are you using? how often do you perform water changes? Anyhow,, my hat's off to you for keeping them all healthy!

Hot pink? You sure it's not a dyed fish?

I haven't heared of it being done to mbunas but I suppose any albino fish would work, just like jellybean parrots and convicts.

When I purchased the guy I specifically asked if he had been dyed, the employee said no, and that he had purchased one about 4months ago and it still retained the color... but who knows... maybe he wanted to make a quick buck. Another associate tried to suggest several other fish he thought I might be interested in purchasing but I think my tank is at capacity, no more newcomers to the tank!

I have 2 fluval 405's, that are rated for 100gallon tanks and also an undergravel filter. I do about a 20gallon water change once a week... I think i've got it down to a science now lol! I have a master test kit and every time I test my water perameters they are in the "perfect" range. I do water changes so often... for the specific reason that there is so much waste/poop in the soil and I like to see them flash their pretty colors when that new water hits the tank.

Where did you get them? I've never heard of a pink Strawberry peacock. Usually it looks like this: Aulonocara sp. (Strawberry Peacock)

Can you post some pictures of it?

In the meantime.. planning a small set-up for when I move into my rented house in summer!
