Zebra Otos are notoriously hard to keep alive. Zebra plecos take a little more work also. Neither fish should be purchased by someone with little to no experience.

Seriously there is about 100 different species of pleco that will have no problem fitting in a 40. Just research what you want. Some of them take a little extra TLC.

edit to say: SCL, it's normally bad form to post other peoples pictures without permission. A link to planetcatfish may have been better. I apologize if Blue gave you permission.

i FOUND A great fish store about 15 minutes from my place.

Hardcore fish guys.

They will take my pleco because they have people who NEED a pleco that can get big

and

they have other pleco's, otos and other fish that will be suitable for me and my tank.

One was a fancy fin pleco that only gets to 4 or 5 inches.

Talking to them was like reading some of you fine folks...

WIsh I could post pics of their set-ups... Never seen anything like it.

Indoor and outdoor tanks....hatcheries.....a hundred freshwater tanks (at least)

Looks like I will have some options...

cool, so can they give you credit for your pleco? maybe letting you get some fish in return for your future tank?

I know.

I like reading here and I have learned ALOT - thanks everyone.

Its nice to go there and talk to the help vs the big box stores I was hitting.

I'm leaning towards the 75 gallon. Have to check the space to see if it fits.

Just think.... I could have like 100 fish in there!

How will I name them all?

Before you buy another pleco though, ask them for the L number of the one that you like. Then either go to Home • PlanetCatfish or come on here and do some research because there are so many different types of plecs and the common names are all different. For instance, there are 3 different types of gold nugget plecs. One only gets about 8", but another one gets 18". So just because the lfs says the plec should only get 6" doesn't mean that it will, it could get much bigger than that.
