| Rubber lip pleco I have otos, but they don't do much about the green algae. Would it be wise to add one rubber lip pleco to my 30G?

| Here's a thread about rubber lips. Rubber Lip Pleco
Also, I think if you're wanting something that stays small in the 30 gallon, you could look at a bristlenose pleco, or a clown pleco, both of which max out at 4-5" for the BN and 4" for the clown, I believe. I was planning on a bristlenose, but just recently got a clown instead in my 55 gallon. He seems to have cleaned the algae that was starting to develop, and BN are supposed to be good algae cleaners too. Just some other options.

| Pretty much no fish can/will eat green spot algae (the hard type). Otos and plecos also won't generally eat hairy kinds of algae.
If you have green spot algae in a planted tank, your phosphates could be low. Scraping is the best way to remove that kind of algae. |

| Clowns look nice, BN's are... Ugly. But it looks like clowns eat wood, and I don't want anything that eats chews away my driftwood.
THe algae is green spot, so I guess I'll have to scrape it away. Should I get a small pleco anyway?

| Wasn't it Pure who just mentioned on another thread that rubberlips are the only ones that eat green spot algae? That's why I was planning to get one for my 55g...

| I read that red ludwigia will outcompete algae like crazy if it is let to grow above the water, so I bought a rubber lip and some red ludwigia. Can't wait to see what happens.

| Uh-oh! My rubber is starting to do the sideways-laying down thing. I don't understand why. Came straight home from store and acclimated it slowly: 10 minutes to equalize temp, a cup of tank water added to bag, 10 minutes later 1 more cup, 10 minutes later put him in tank. I nudged him onto the glass with a net, and he sucked onto it, but didn't move at all, really.
Edit-
Back on the bottom again.
What going on?

| Maybe I spoke too soon. He must've been adjusting still. All better! (Or so it seems)
