Default Adding a Turtle?

I'm wanting to find out if I can add a turtle to my tank...
I wasn't sure if I could build something higher up to give the turtle dry space, but I don't know much about turtles...

Is it possible to mix them with fish?

Turtles will eat your fish.

If that's ok with you, then yeah you can keep them together. The tank needs to be converted into a habitat the turtle can live in. This means draining half the water out of your tank and building some sort of bank for him to come up out of the water on.

The turtle that I was gonna take in is still very small, my fish are much larger then his mouth. We hill still try to go after them?

Also do I need to take the water level down half way, or would 3 quarters be sufficent?

1/3rd would be enough. The idea is to lower it enough so you can provide a place for him to come out of the water and yet still be in the tank.

Turtles grow pretty quick. He will be of fish chomping age in no time. It would be ok to house him for a few weeks. Just don't be surprised if some of your fish end up with chunks missing.

Just make sure you turn your heater down as low as the fish can possibly stand.

Looks like Pure already changed your mind, just to add for your own info. The sell of turtles under 4 inches is banned with out special permits or educational purposes, so technically unless you catch it yourself you shouldnt be able to buy a small one, but we all know some shops still sell them. Heres the link if you want to look into it yourself.
