| JOURNAL: Moving 1200 miles Ok figured I would make a journal of my Move from colorado springs to Corpus Christi. Heres where I stand so far. Any input will be appreciated. Hopefully others can learn from success or failure.
Purchased 5 gallon buckets for gravel, purchased 20qt sterilte containers for fish. I have 1 container for each Oscar, pleco, and green sunfish, the blue paradise fish, bumblebee catfish a small pleco are all going into 1 container.
I went with the smaller ones to hopefully prevent sloshing. I think I can fit these containers behind the seat of my truck (extended cab).
I plan on draining the tanks Wednesday afternoon, which means the fish will be transferred to these container that same day. That means they will be living in these for 3 days. Will be adding an 80/20 mix of fresh water to tank water and will add AMMOLOC. I will have a small container I keep the filter media in to hopefully keep the bacteria alive. Also planning on running airstones in each container.

| Please post your journal. I am very interested to know how things go as I can see myself making a move like that someday.

| I didn't realize you were moving already! I guess you don't have time to talk her into Cincinnati.
Let me know your address and we will have some skyline and grippos waiting for you!

| I will be leaving tomorrow morning..getting up early to tear down tanks. I was going to do it tonight but I dont want the fish to spend more time than needed in the smaller containers. So the plan is still mixing fresh and tank water, treat with prime, add filter media to the containers. box up filters and heaters. drain tanks. Put fish in 20qt containers. Put in truck..haul ass Also going to take a small cooler of ice incase container temps get to high I can throw some ice in the water in small amounts to bring the temps down slowly.
Any advice or thoughts from you guys before I start this process.

| Wow! I didn't realize that you're making this move. Texas isn't for all people, but I definitely enjoyed living there. Then again, I also enjoyed living in Colorado! Quote:

Never having done anything like this, I can't really give specific advice. I will be following along; I'm sure you'll post about experiences useful even for a move of only 5 miles!
But, having driven between Texas and Colorado plenty of times, I can say this: if you plan on going the route that I'd recommend (I-25 south to US Highway 87 south to US Highway 287 south to I-35 south to I-37 south) watch out for the speed traps all along US 287, particularly in and around the town of Wichita Falls, Texas!

| Hopefully you can get there and kind of settled in before Tropical Storm Gustav gets there. Quite a change in climate your heading for haha.
Sounds like a plan to me, good luck. Btw, you listing the miles in the topic reminded me of this. YouTube - The Proclaimers 500 Miles
