| Moving I will be moving from Colorado to south Texas, approx. 1200 miles, in 3 weeks. I am looking for ideas on moving my fish, I do not want to lose any fish. My plan as of right now is to use coolers with air stones. the problem is they will either be in the back of my truck or in a trailer, both of these will be enclosed and I will have no way of controlling temps. Any ideas, any success or failures let me know. Thanks
Brian

| When I moved from Connecticut to South Carolina we bought breather bags and a styrofoam cooler box. I bagged all my fish up and put them in the cooler without the lid on it and set it on the back seat in the truck (which I drove). We stopped at a hotel and I checked the fish and all was fine. I brought them in for the night and then we left the next day. It was only a 2 day trip but worked out great. I had no water slushing to worry about and it was just easy. Im not sure that I would advise putting them in the trailer or back of the truck with how hot it has been. Im not sure they would make it that way.

| I'd pack them like i'd be shipping them, unless you have access to decent water for water changes throughout the way in a bucket/rubbermaid. Otherwise i'd just pack them up like Fishgeek did and just act like i was shipping them.
Ice packs if its really that warm.

| Ok..I will try that...I plan on making it a one day trip. I am driving a Ford ranger and will be towing a trailer. The is no other option than in the truck bed or in a trailer. What size bag would you use for a 10inch oscar?

| That's what I though too, but I'm assuming another person has to go in the front seat? I moved mine from Dallas to Houston in a rubber maid type container. They did ok, the silvertip was fine, the blackskirts, mollies, etc. were hit or miss, and the angel died. I moved angels a couple times, and they seem to be the least resilient of the ones I had. Also, there was already an outbreak of something in the tank before the move. Just thought I'd chime in with my moving experience.

| If anything I would put them in the trailer with some ice packs just so they arent in the direct sun and to help keep them cool. But I would get a styrofoam container, it will help regulate a temp. If you are doing it in one day then I wouldnt worry about breather bags. Id just get regular bags from you LFS and bag them (less water than air and dont blow into the bags) and put the lid on the container and tape it shut with the ice packs inside. For the Oscars try and get big enough bags. You might have better luck getting those at a place that sells live rock, they generally have larger bags. The only thing is they may need their own container.
