Default Rainbow personality

I know rainbow fish like to be in schools and that they are beautifully colored. I was wondering what type of personality they have. Are they more like tetras and kinda boring or are they "meet and greet" types when caretaker approaches tank? Are they shy?

Depends on the species. They all act like danios and barbs. My 2 are very active and eat alot.

I find them more interesting than tetras, but less interesting than some other fish. Once they get acclimated, they're friendlier.

They've definitely got more personality than tetras (so does your average bowling ball). They aren't that shy except when first introduced, other than that they're swimming all over all the time.
