Default Favorite Fish Magazines

Hey guys. I am looking to subscribe to an aquarist magazine, abut have no idea which are good or whatever, so I wondered what all you guys buy/subscribe to.

For myself I am looking for a planted tank type magazine, or just a general freshwater one. But list any you read or subscribe to .

You should definitely join the AGA. The quarterly magazine has some great plant articles: Aquatic Gardeners Association

I like Tropical Fish Hobbyist (TFH) as a general fish magazine. The others aren't as good, IMO.

I currently subscribe to Aquarium fish international (or something like that), and I won't be renewing.

TFH is the best imo also.

I get the American Cichlid Association's "magazine" and am a subscriber to Tropical Fish Hobbyist. I love TFH. I believe Amano is now a contributor and he always has an aquascaping article in there, and there is usually always a collecting article in there where the author shows a collecting trip. Its a mix of general FW and general SW though, though FW is more specific and covered then SW it seems.

Go to the bookstore and just look at a few (If they have them). Or the LFS. Check them out before you subscribe.

A lot of people seem to like Practical Fishkeeping, but it's a UK publication, and costs a lot more to subscribe.

TFH is what I subscribe to, Awesome magazine. I also enjoy Freshwater and Marine Aquarium and plan on subscribing to it one of these days.

I received a card in the mail from Aquarium Fish International this week. Normal price for a sub is 12 issues for $28. Looks like they are running a special for 24 issues for the same price. Personally, I don't much care for it, good deal or not.

Why would someone pay for something that's free on the internet?

The only fish/pet magazine I get are the ones from Dr's Foster and Smith cause they just start sending them when you make an order. Good bathroom material that's for sure. The few articles in there aren't that bad, and have gotten better over the years. Not just one big commercial to sell you something, but actual useful information which surprised the heck out of me. Most of the time anyway.
