Default Floating Plants

I've read that dwarf gouramis like floating plants. Harlequin rasboras like them as well. I haven't seen any at the store though. Where do you get these plants?

You can check online. I have been looking into ordering some stuff online if my LFS can't or won't order what I want.

Hornwort is one of the most common floating plants sold at chain stores and fish stores, but they usually have it weighted down in their plant tanks.

Most stores have a really limited selection of plants, so online is a good alternative. Forums like this one (buy/sell/trade section), theplantedtank.net and Aquabid.com have all been good sources for me. It's mostly hobbyists selling, so you can just get the plants you want, and shipping is usually lower than the online stores.

I got mine off the forums. If you have a tank they like you will be throwing out handfuls of them every week it will seem. Probably look for frogbit or red rooted floaters those two seem to be very popular. Try to stay away from duckweed it has a tendency to be hard to get out of a tank.

I'll suggest checking out any local plant stores (ex. SLOAT) that may sell plants for growing out of ponds. Usually they will have a whole mess of duckweed and other varieties of mystery floating plants that get transfered with the large plants where they are grown. Thats where i got all of my varieties of small floating plants.
