Default CO2 Diffuser placement ideas?

Well I have had pressurized CO2 for almost a week now (since Saturday) and I am trying to figure our how to get the most out of it.

At *just* under 1 bubble a second I got up to roughly 9ppm CO2 by placging the diffuser underneath the powerhead. It did a good job circulating the bubbles and such, but I still found a lot of the bubbles would not dissolve into the water before reaching the surface.

So this morning I placed it underneath the intake for my filter. I feel like this would be the best option as it would give good turbulence by the impeller for it to dissolve- same as for a DIY set up only this is a constant supply of tiny bubbles rather than the odd big bubble.

What I am afraid of is if it is going into the filter than is the CO2 going to be out-gassed once it leaves the filter and goes into my tank due to the turbulence at the water's surface? Or does this sound like a good idea? I will be testing the KH and pH tomorrow if I have the time, but I am just wondering what the wonderful minds of MFT thought.

Put something in front of the filter that directs the flow down into the tank.

The best way to get maximum co2 distribution is to install your diffuser opposite of filter flow. If you would like a video illustration let me know. In fact I will go find it, be right back.

Very nice. I shall try this when it is time for me to upgrade from yeast to pressurized.

but what about for a HOB filter then? I can't put the filter on the side of the tank due to lights and glass top, nor can I put the diffuser on the from of the tank .

Hmmm, I always try to have the flow of water keep co2 bubbles low in the water column. This way they get pushed around as in the video. The longer the bubbles stay in the water, the better your co2 saturation will be.

that's what I figured as well. The powerhead did a decent job of postponing the bubbles' rise to the top, but I still had many make there way to the surface. I am going to test the sat levels tomorrow and see where it's at with the bubbles going through the filter.

I am liking these ideas though! I am thinking I could reposition the filter towards the center more- this way the bubbles could go through the powerhead and then on their wayu p get pushed back down by the filter outlet. What do you think?

keep us posted on your test results.
By the way, how do you plan to test your levels?

I went the cheap route and am using the KH-pH conversion. I search on Google and use like three or four different references to get my average amount.
