Exclamation To euthanize or not?

Ok, today Sharkey has got a chunk of what appears to be bloody flesh hanging from those spots over his eye...I've salted, water changed and medicated...the meds the LFS gave me I soaked the food in, but he won't eat.

Other fishies are picking on him as well today...

What should I do? A few responses would be REALLY appreciated at this point...I don't wanna lose him, but I'm not sure what else I can do...

I wouldn't euthanize yet. If you can, put him in a separate tank to treat him. If he's not eating, you'll need to treat with something that works in the water.

Now being as how a lot of fish are showing symptoms, albeit some different symptoms, should I just treat the whole 55?

Well, if you have a lot of sick fish, then yes, treat the whole tank. I recommend a round of Maracyn One and Maracyn Two (together), as it knocks out most bacterial infections.

Ok...went to the LFS and they gave me Metronidazole...the instructions say you can treat the whole tank and/or the food...I took the carbon out...I'll put that in and see how we do...

Thanks for the really quick replies Lotus, I really appreciate it!

K...now if I quarrantine, do I just take some tank water out of the tank he's in and put it into say...the 5G I've got? Cuz since they're all empty, they're not cycled...I've never done a Q tank...

He's hiding in a plant at the moment, and everyone seems to be leaving him alone for now...

Also, I don't have a heater to put in...but the temps of all my tanks so far this summer are running about 78* or higher...so I shouldn't need one, right?

Bare bottom, right? Add in any plants of hiding spots?

Do you have a filter on the 5 G? Take some of the media out of your larger tank's filter and put it in the filter in the 5 g if you can. If not take a handful of gravel or what have you out of it and put that in there.
