| What Would You Do So I was wondering what ya'll would do in this situation.
A person bought a product from me and then at the last minute decided they didnt want it. Shipping had been paid for but the item had not yet been sent. I refunded the money for the cost of the item but kept the shipping fee as it was already used along with the money for the paypal fee. This person was not satisfied with this and filed a claim against me and lied about it saying nothing about the transaction being canceled only said they didn't receive a product.
Would you have handled it the same way?? Or was I wrong??

| If there was a paypal fee to you, and they cancelled... of course I wouldn't give them a full refund. Maybe not keeping their whole shipping charge, just the paypal fee.

| I totally think you were in line in your decision. Can't be surprised though, if they canceled the order at the last minute, that they would then complain and lie. How annoying.

| I was paid last week and told them I would ship out on Monday. Sunday evening an email was sent to me (which I didnt see till Monday morning) saying they didnt want them and that if I had sent them they were just going to flush it. So I figured Id keep them and refund the money for the cost of the item. The claim was filed with in 2 days after the shipping day.

| The customer is always right, even when they're not.
I'd say that next time, you need to put a note on the auction/confirmation e-mail that cancellations must be received 48 hours prior to shipping or that all orders are final. |

| You are right Jess Why should you have to eat the shipping costs just because they changed their mind?

| Hopefully, you kept all emails and forwarded them to the paypal claims dept. If you shipped via the paypal website, you can also cancel the shipping label and get the money back from that. However, if I had already packed up the item and was about to take it to the post office, THEN I got that email. I would have only given a partial refund, just like you did. YOUR time and efforts/materials were wasted, because of THEIR choice.
I think anytime you post an item for sale, make sure to state any and all refund/shipping/cancellation items. Unfortunately, this has to be done when you have had a problem such as this. Then you have to get firm on your selling techniques, because of a few bad (or dumb) apples out there willy nilly buying stuff and changing their minds etc.
Sorry this happened to you.
