Unhappy Has My Luck Ran Out?

Hi guys. As some of you may know i bought some fish recently. One of them was ill, my starlight bristlenose. She had fungus so i bought the treatments and woooo it started to work. The fungus started dissapearing and i noticed a problem. My tank started to go slimy.... Everywhere was covered. It was not much of a problem to me though, i just kept wiping the glass. I also noticed that the water became yellowy and disgusting. I didn't like that though. My fishs' attitudes changed. The water changed overnight... I got worried. I could not find my guppy anywhere, when i had he was dead upside down by a plant. I netted him and his belly was huge and covered in the slimy stuff. I figured it could have been the meds causing this.

Then today i woke up and saw the tank filthy still. Slime everywhere again. I did not want to do a wc yet because it would remove the meds. But i put the lights on and saw my Starlight Bristlenose pleco upside down on the bottom, Breathing heavily. I panicked. I immediately did a 50-75% wc and hoped for the best. I saw her again 10 mins ago out of her cave but still upside down. Im so worried. I know she's probrably going to die. The water still looks quite murky. Im not sure if the meds killed off all the bacteria or the new fish brought in a disease other than fungus or if the filter with peat moss is not working properly... I have no idea but it is worrying me... The other fish seem fine... Why her?

Any ideas?

Thanks.
Dan.

You do need to check the parameters. Especially when using something like peat moss, which isn't predictable, you should be monitoring your pH/KH/GH/ammonia. The parameters bouncing around can stress the fish.

Some meds do harm the beneficial bacteria. I don't know what you used, and even if I did I couldn't tell you if it hurts the cycle or not. That being said, if this is part of the trouble, then the pleco could be more stressed out because it was already ill to begin with. With healthy fish a small cycle normally won't bother them much, but sick fish or fish that have recently been sick are more susceptible to stress and the effects.
