Just to add on to this.

If you do get more then one Dwarf Pufferfish (they are fully FW fish), make sure you have a lot of plants to break up the line of sight, since the DP's are agressive to their own species. A good tank mate for them would be a couple otos.

I know some say it's a bad idea and it maybe, but instead of the shrimp, go for some mystery snails.... and also, if I were you go for like a crown (tailed betta) dont know how to describe it anyway else...those look so cool!

I've got the sort of tank your looking at setting up, been running for about 5 months now

its an unknown kinda make, a sicce 4.3 gallon tank

currently houses 6 kuhli loach, 2 african drawf frogs, a male crowntail betta, 2 julie corys and one bronze cory, and a zebra snail

I used to have 3 zebra snails unfortunately the frogs decided they liked the look of them, so i wouldnt recommend snails

initially i started out with one frog, however he hid behind the filter box and rarely moved, since the addition of another he's become very sociable, and if my hands at the bottom of the tank picking out uneaten pellets they both hop into my hand

Its a silk plant aquarium, with fine gravel, and while people may think it's not the greatest size for the fish, they all seem very happy and i've had absolutely no problems with any of them.

My kuhli seem to be an exception, and don't really hide but prefer to chase each other around the plants, and they really do give me great pleasure to watch, hope my experiences can help you out

OK.. Puffer fish range in types of water and feeding requirements.. Here is a good site to compare all types.

All I can say is bone up on studying them prior to purchase. Any puffer will not be the easiest to keep, but the rewards of them are wonderful. I had a 10g with a couple for about a year.

Here it is...

Tight fitting lids with ADF..

Wow. Great site. I didn't know there were so many types of puffers. I especially like the little red eye and red tail one. Bet they are next to impossible to find.

Even though I would rather go with puffers, I think I'm gonna make this tank for my daughter. She just goes crazy for the bettas. And it's a chance to redeem myself for the one I killed in the glass vase years ago.....
I'm still undecided on tank mates though. To be continued.
