She was getting much better still. The meds were working. The fungus started to go and she was swimming around more. I got excited.

But Then...

Today i woke up and saw the tank a bit filthy(it had been for the past few days). Slime everywhere. I did not want to do a wc yet because it would remove the meds. But i put the lights on and saw my Starlight Bristlenose pleco upside down on the bottom, Breathing heavily. I panicked. I immediately did a 50-75% wc and hoped for the best. I saw her again 10 mins ago out of her cave but still upside down. Im so worried. I know she's probrably going to die. The water still looks quite murky. Im not sure if the meds killed off all the bacteria or the new fish brought in a disease other than fungus or if the filter with peat moss is not working properly... I have no idea but it is worrying me... The other fish seem fine... Why her? (Quoted by myself in another thread).

Have you checked the ammonia/nitrites? If not, do that.

To be honest, it probably wasn't a good idea to put in the peat moss while treating, just because it's better to keep things constant if you have a sick fish. Massive changes in parameters can stress them, and add to the disease problems. Sorry, I didn't really read that part when you posted it. The peat is probably also the reason for the murkiness.

ok thanks. i looked for her today. couldn't find her. looked in the castle. there she was, dead. it was stupid of me to change the filtration. i'll check ammonia and nitrite. will the peat moss stop clouding the water? or will it keep doing it...? how can i get rid of this slimy stuff too. i might get rid of my male bristlenose and get 2 smaller ones. wait for a breeding pair.. of the 4 i will have and then get rid of the other 2.

Any suggestions?

I'd siphon out the slime and see if it comes back.

How big are the four you have? Any signs of a male and female yet?

ok i'll siphon it off. at the moment there are 3 2 small ones at 1.5-2'' and the big male at 5''. im going to get rid of the male and exchange him for 2 other small bn's. i heard that they get on better in groups from the same tank as babies/ juveniles so im going to go back to the same place to get another 2 from the same batch.

I have noticed that the two plecs get on well together. they have grown fast too.

Another thing i should say.... one of my corydoras has caught the fungus. so i re-dosed the tank and im hoping for the best. should i seperate him and treat in my 12 litre tank? Thanks...

Yes, definitely get fish from the same batch. As most of the BNs aren't 100% identified by species, if you get fish from different sources, they aren't necessarily the same species (and most likely won't breed). I think they're able to breed at about 3".

With the cory, I'd keep treating the main tank. If one fish caught it, it's better to eradicate the disease from the whole tank in case others catch it.

i think it's becoming a crisis lol. my big male bn now has fungus too. i decided to make a methylene blue bath and treat the cory in that it worked it stunted the fungus and reduced it's size dramatically. it's now a tiny pimple. the male bn is in there till tonite.
The methylene blue covers the fungus and kills it by the looks of it. i'll have to bath the cory again to get rid of it fully.

also can clown pleco's catch whitespot/ick? i heard bn's cant but im not sure about clown pleco's.

The water is clear and flter working properly and the SLIME HAS GONE!!! =] thanks for all the help=] i'll keep treating them =].
