I picked up a few more rocks today to help build up a rock wall. I also found some plants growing in a small creek just off of the larger one I have in the picture. I don't know what these plants are so I will post a couple of pictures of them here and hopefully someone will have an idea of what these might be.

Here is the first plant. I think there were more of these I could see in a slightly deeper spot of the creek, but I didn't have my waders today.

Here are a couple pics of the 2nd type of plant I found. These were found buried in a sandy area and I was able to get these two pieces of them.

Any idea what any of these plants are?

Haha I'm tempted to do that, but I figured I would wait a little bit to see if I can figure out what these plants are.

I added more rocks now and planted the plants I found today.

I don't know if I will keep both pieces of driftwood in the tank because it just seems to be crowded with them so I will probably remove the one that looks like a stick but I'm still deciding on that.

A member on a different forum thought that this plant may be some type of Ludwigia, but I'm still not 100% sure.

Here is the other type of plant that I found today. It doesn't look as healthy as the one above, but maybe it will do better now that it is in warmer water.

Now for an updated full tank shot.

Here is a picture of the new wall of rocks that I put in the tank.

[QUOTE=alter40;499305]I would say thats too big for this tank, but they might make a nice addition to the 75g when I finally get that setup so I will have to keep them in mind.

What book do you use? I saw Nation Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Fishes for sale at Borders in Buffalo the other day and I thought it seemed to have quite a bit of information and good pictures in it to help identify what I find.\QUOTE]

Thats the book that I have. I like it.

Thanks Jen. I think I'm going to Erie tomorrow so I might have to pick it up while I'm there.

I was really amazed to find some plants in such cold water. I hope that they do well in there. Right now I think the one in the first picture is some kind of ludwigia and the other stringy looking ones look like hemianthus micranthemoides thats in really bad shape at the moment. Now that they are in warmer water with some decent lighting hopefully these plants make big changes and start looking really nice.

Why not put the put the driftwood that looks like a stick in between some rocks, pointed upward - and then tie some plants onto it? That way, it kinda occupies some space toward the top, and you'll have some green up there too

Great tank, btw!!! I'm going out to the field tomorrow, so I hope to be lucky enough to find some nice rocks to put in my future 29 gallon. lol, it'd be pretty bad if a geologist (well geology student) bought rocks for his aquarium, when he could very well be collecting them, without looking weird(er) than usual.

I may do the "fallen rocks" on one side, with the other side grassy, and full of plants. Sooo many ideas in my head... I need my stimulus check and birthday money already!!
