From those, I also think they're both female (but I'm not that good at this game just yet).

Your focus is pretty narrow (and long -- the focus is well beyond the fish). Is there any way to increase the f/stop on your camera to bring it up to f/22 or something like that? That will allow you to have a wider focus and be more forgiving (but require higher light levels -- i.e. a flash). I'm guessing that most digital cameras don't give you that flexibility. It's why I've been waiting to get a digital SLR for more control.

Well #2 is a female. I'm not sure about #1, but I'm leaning towards a male. Helena should be able to help you more when she is back on tomorrow.

Well, I guess I'm the one who thought female. What makes you think it looks male?

I thought it was female b/c of the red on the belly and blue specs in the black spot.

The one on the left is ram #2. The one on the right is #1.

I was thinking the one on the right in the first picture might be a male, but the blue specks in the black spot kinda makes it look like a female so I have no clue.

Keep trying to get some pictures. Try backing away some and see if your camera has a macro mode as well. Mine seems to take better pictures in that mode. It looks like a little flower picture on my kodak camera.

If you can get it to focus better on the fish from a distance you can crop the picture down to showing just the fish and it should be easier to identify. If you can get a picture thats in focus that is a little further away but need help cropping it then pm me and I can crop it.
