I should add here how I packed the glass tanks. The 20, 10, and 5 I built or found cardboard boxes and placed them inside with a layer of either THICK bubble-wrap, or foam peanuts all the way around, top, and bottom, and taped shut, labeled as "Fragile Glass Aquariums". My 29 gallon tank has an iron stand, so I placed the tank in the space below where it normally sits (the stand could accomodate two 29gallon tanks), first wrapped in bubble wrap before placing inside the stand, then the whole tank and stand were wrapped liberally with HUGE bubble-wrap several times around. I forgot to put bubble wrap below the tank between it and the iron stand, but even after 3,000 miles of bumpy roads, it suffered no cracks.

Thanks for the compliments everyone!

I had about 80 fish in all, so the 10 or so fatalities was not bad at all. And I had TOO many plants anyway as I had purposefully not pruned for a month leading up to the move int he event all my plants did not make it.

The Pacific NorthWest is VERY nice. I am now doing job searching, with many leads to follow up on, and an awesome pet store on 39th Avenue called the Wet Spot (going there tonite for BioSpira for my sister-inlaw's tank). She has 3 very impatient kids wanting fish in their $1 Eclipse tank.

Thumbs up Thanks for the Awesome Story

I loved hearing how you pulled it off

This gives all of us hope that moving with fish is possible

I am not looking forward to my upcoming move with a 125 gal Piranha Tank

Ouch

good read and good advice...
i'm heading for a minor move...ten miles max...
my 40 gallon[imp] shouldn't be a problem...

as for your win win attitude...
it worked well for you...
but because of my short distance...
i am expecting NO LOSSES ...

So where was it exactly that you found that everything on this table is a dollar deal? Cause i'd drive about 1000 miles for that. =D Thanks for sharing this with us.
