Thanks, my CAE keeps knockin my anacharis, the smaller ones, out of the substrate. I swear hes on crack, hes like maniac algea eater if he doesnt think anyones watching. But as soon as he knows someone is around, he has like paranoia attacks. vital signs of speed. yes? haha Ive got brown algea on the hornswort, would a team of ghost shrimp help clean that up? i notice they are on there every once in a while pickin off it, but just 3 of them doesnt do enough damage on it.

Does brown algea kill plants?

So you've got otos, Chinese algae eater, ghost shrimp, and guppies in there now, right? Lots of algae eaters make for a clean tank! Still got the frogs?

i want the chinese out so i can put him in the other tank.

in this tank, the well planted one, i have 3 ottos, 2 baby guppy, 4 tetras, 3 ghost shrimp, and one chinese algea eater, that i want out, but hes a crack head and runs like a maniac, and i cant catch him. i'm about ready to take a shishkabob stick and spear him.

the frog is in the other tank with the rest of the baby guppies and a small pleco, that i'll probably give to my uncle when he gets any bigger. hes like 1.5 inches right now.

If you skewer the CAE, make sure you fry him up right away so it won't be a waste

haha i caught him finally. Lucky for him.

Hey i saw a silver tipped shark at the store when i got the otos i had to hold back from the impulse and urge to buy him because he looked soo cool. But it said he got up to 12 inches. will they eat other live fish? or would i be able to raise him in my 10g and pretty much just stunt him...

I think he may be "stunted" to some degree by being in a 10gallon tank, but he'd still get big enough to terrorize the other inhabitants. And his fins won't get thick enough to make soup out of them, so why bother.

oto:

As of just now 3-14-05

i have:
3 ghost shrimp
10 baby guppy
3 oto's
4 neon tetras

Planning on adding 7 more ghost shrimp. What else should i add? black neons? ive kinda been wanting those for a while.

Guppies are going to be sold as soon as they start developing color.

If i add a spiral shell snail (the long pointy type) will he eat my plants? or just the dead leaves of plants?

oh and i got a moonlight LED strip i'm going to put on my tank at night. Anyone done this before?
(the light is actually for computers as it plugs into a usb port, but i have a long enough cable that it can reach my fish tank just at night. )

Also anyone have any snails intentionally? do they eat your live plants? or just dead leaves?

one last question too. with sand...do you gravel vac sand? haha or just let the poop disolve into the water and sand for the plants to use?
