| Is it better to do the fishless cycling?? We cycled all of our tank with danios... that is how our local fish store told us to do it.... I would really like to try the other method...

| use pure ammonia in conjunction with filter media from a matured tank. a simple slice off the sponge filter media from any of your running tanks would speed up the cycle. but keep adding ammonia to the tank. read up on ammonia cycling.

| Lemme find the recipe that youre talking about...but yes thats essentially what you want to do. EDIT: Yes that recipe should be your bible when you set up a new tank. if you read all of it youll see that he suggests putting some filter media from an established tank into the new filter in the cycling tank.
