| Yeah I might get a cheapie one like that, good idea, then I could get the LED light... Hmm a beta would be nice. homebunnyj... I saw in a profile that betas are good jumpers... sorry if anyone else misunderstood me too! OK another reason I DON'T want jumping fish is because even though I had a hood on my tank, there are still holes to put equipment in, right...? Once a fish of mine jumped out of there... And my tank WASN'T over-stocked when he jumped out, by the way!!

Do not put a 20g tank on a dresser. The 20g will weigh over 200 lbs and even if the dresser holds for the short term, it will eventually fail. Depending on where you live, you might be able to find a nice stand at the store on clearance. I got one my perfecto 20 pine stands on clearance for $19 and the matching one for my 10g for $10at pet supermaket. I just recently found a 55 with perfecto pine stand at a Petco for $125.

Yes some fish are escape artists. Take those FW crabs they sell at LFSs for 3-4.00, they are masters of escape. Fish like bala sharks and flying foxes are also very prone to leaping out the tank if there's gaps. If you get the right lid there should be no gaps; possibly little creases where the filter sits, but you can usually get the lid fitted properly so that it's almost perfectly sealed, or just duct tape the cracks.

| psh... I don't think you need a lid... even with a Betta... the fish jo names are related to freshwater sharks which all always jump...The neons and rasboras shouldn't jump at all and some live bearer or a Betta I think would be okay too....

| OK sorry there jo3olous... I guess it was maybe that he (the fish) had just gotten into my tank and was new there... whatevs. Once I saw a crab crawling its way across the floor at an LFS. lol it was pretty funny also another reason I think that I would probably want a lid is because I really don't want my dog to chew up it if anything gets out, euwwwww that'd be gross yuck... Anyways why hasn't anybody reccomended a centerpiece fish other than a betta? not that I don't like them, its just I'd like to look into other species. Thanks guys !!

| How about this: 6 harlequin rasboras (I'll buy five more) 7 neon tetras (I'll buy 4 more) 1 male swordtail. I like swordtails, especially males... they seem very appropriate for a centerpiece fish, don't you think? With those vibrant colors, unique tail... wouldn't it be nice??
