| Aquarium Tank Pricing What are good prices for tanks?
I'm looking at tanks now (MTS kicking in).
My LFS has 60g tanks for $70 bucks. This seems a good deal when compaired to what I've found online. The 80g JUMP in price $180 at the LFS. The tanks through the sponsors seem very expensive.
I'm looking for average prices you paid for larger tanks. (55g + ) I am just looking to get a tank that includes a glass top in the 60-80,90,110 range. (probably closer to ~ 70 even though 110 doesn't seem that much bigger!! )
Links/pictures are always welcomed.

| Here is what I have paid for my tanks on craigslist. These include tank, stand, filter, lights, and heater.
150g - $200
75g - $100
55g - Free
40g - $100 (it was my first tank, the guy said it was a 55 and I did not know better)

| Generally, tank prices run about $1-$1.50 per gallon under 100 gallons new.
You can sometimes catch the chain stores doing 1$ gallon sales.
My large tanks were
200-$125
160-$200
120-free
112-$125
These were all used.

| Thanks for your replies. Please let me know, if you remember, where you purchased your tanks (or saw them for those prices). If I could find an 80g @ 1.5/g I'd be all over it. But the spots I've found so far, I'm seeing, 2, 3, 3.5 per gallon. I am monitoring CL for used as well.
Our LFS will have a "Tanks Giving" sale on their tanks in November. And I hope to have a really good idea on fair pricing for tanks in my neck of the world by then.
Side note. for the 120g+ tanks that you are listing, can you post pictures? (Assuming it's up and running.) (or pm me link, or anything.)
Would you suggest larger? I have cement flooring under the carpet. I do live in earthquake country though. |

| 3 are up and running in my fishhouse and the 4th should be by this weekend.
It has a 6 inch poured concrete floor.
I will get some pictures up in the next few days.

| Word of mouth & getting it used is the best deal IMO. Back a few years ago, I got my 55 gallon with stand & filter (albeit a cheap wal mart filter one that I quickly replaced) for $100 from someone I worked with.
Here's a couple pics...(I don't have a full shot of the stand, but it's black and has four cabinet doors underneath):

| 120g square tank ~ $189.00 @ the LFS. These tanks are made locally. Patiently waiting for the Tanks Giving Sale.
Otherwise, bumping the thread.
Looking for good places to purchase large tanks. (besides Craigslist! )
Is making a tank yourself *that* hard? |

| I think it requires patience and attention to detail. It is not really any cheaper than ones you can find out there. But if you have nothing better to do...
