I was wondering what are powerheads and what do they do?
I was thinking about getting one and i was wondering where to hook it up and what to hook it up to(filter airpump)
Powerheads are basically water movers. You submerge them in the tank and they pull water from the tank and push it back out into the tank creating a current or flow. Used to keep dead spots out of the tank. Powerheads are usually stand alone, just plug into the wall and it goes.
i use some of my powerheads to pull water through a sponge to filter the water and give the bacteria a place to grow. they can have multi functions, but like C-Man said they basicly move water. they are all rated too as to how many gallons per hr that they can move. check one out, they can be fun to play with and some fish like the current that they produce.
