Light Probs

Hiya everyone, I bought a new 120L tank a few weeks ago and the light kept going off after a few minutes then eventually it wouldnt work at all. The shop changed the lid for me and the light worked for a few hours then stopped, if I changed plug sockets it worked for a while then stopped again, now it wont work at all. Im so confused. Is it the light or is it the socket? the filter and heater work in the socket. Ohhhhhh help please.

you are using the same outlet wih a power strip/surge protector? Is the heater and filter still working when the light shuts off? If they are then you problem is either in the light or wiring to the light. What exactley did they replace? if you have a bulb that is larger than the lid is rated for (60w in a 40w socket) it could also cause this to happen. Is this a flourescent or incandescent light fixture?

The heater and the filter are still working and the shop replaced the whole lid for me. Ive just phoned them again and they are going to replace it again, maybe they have a bad batch, but my poor fish have no light

ah well lol im sure my plants need it. I think it may be sorted now thank god. Thanks for your help Brian

My pleasure..I am not an electrician but I have experience with home electrical and havent burnt down my house....yet...lol
