i got my fluval because my cousin had one an he said it was great. stupidly looking back i wish i bought an eheim with internal heater(which will be my next purchase) but i have no clue which one i need for a 90 gal? once i started a planted tank i lloked around and researched only to find out what kind of mistake i made....

EDIT: wow after some research i am sold on the eheim 2126 with internal heater for my 90. If rena had an internal heater ild go with them but ill spend the extra bux for the feature.

well it is $299 but now after further research of it i dont think so..... Ive read a lot of horror stories about the internal heater sticking on so instead im going to go with the eheim 2028 with a hydor ETH 300w inline heater...better flow and cheaper ($239)

I like my Fluval 105 more than my Ehiem ECCO. It seems to pick up more gunk and stuff compared to the Eheim, and is a lot easier to clean.

I like the Ehiem though because of the self priming though, with the Fluval the little key thing is a PITA.

well.. the priming on the rena is easy.. just take a cap off on top of the intake tube.. and use a little funnel that comes with and pour water in the intake tube until the hose is full and put the cap back on.. then all you do is close the handle for disconnection and it fills up. wait a min and turn on.. simple! I love these filters!

I have an Eheim 2028 Pro II, a XP3, and an XP2.

Eheim trumps the Rena XP filters. I've had both for years now and have had to replace some seals on the XP as well as the impeller, but the Eheim is 100% original and I have 0 problems.

Because of CO2 injection I run the spray bars submerged. I had to drill out the XP's spray bar holes bigger because it was making a funny whistle when I did this. No such problem on the Eheim.

I've also had a Via Aqua 750 canister, basically an Eheim 2028 Pro II clone, except that it's $75 brand new and a raging piece of junk.

Marineland just put out a new canister filter which will probably be my next canister purchase. I like their Magnums except for the corny output/intakes but those can be modified anyway. I also dislike bio wheels so I don't use them.
