thanks guy...that may come in handy, if I can talk my uncle in to making me a tank...haha....though getting my wife to agree on its size is another ball game...and she is usually the umpire....hrm....idea I have is for an "L" shape, kind of a true "corner" tank....dunno if fish will like that or not

my idea in these tiny thing I have for a brain is this. 2 tanks...combine in to one, where they combine will be "curved"...not 90 degreee angles....but basically one 60" long X 20" wide X 24" tall combine with a 48" long X 20" wide X 24" tall. How I can get curved glass is....lucky for me, I don't have to know...lol....but I want it curved, not at a right angle...leastwise to me fish may grasp the idea better if the glass curved?

i think a curve would be much more appealing...like an inverted bow front...a recesed bow front...curved glass is definitely available (for a bit more $$)

The metric system makes things easier when calculating volumes. (Metric = litres, metres, kilograms etc).

In the metric system, 1 cubic metre of water contains 1000 litres. In addition, 1 litre of water weighs exactly 1 kilogram at sea-level. So, in the metric system, you simply multiply the dimensions of the tank and multiply the resuly by 1000 e.g. :

1.5 metres length * 0.5 metres width * 0.75 metres depth * 1000 = 562.5 litres.

So the water in this tank would weigh 562.5 kilograms.

The problem with the use of "gallons" that sometimes causes confusion is that the American gallon and the British gallon are different.

USA gallon = 3.785 litres
British gallon = 4.546 litres.

Regards.

Default Simple Equation

All measurements are in inches. Depth X hight X Length X 0.004329

And that fellow Aquariuses, if you have a calculator, will get you the gallons for any tank size easily!!
