Default i wanna build a tank

a winter project.

i'd like to build a tank to fit along a bedroom wall between two windows. without making it too deep i think it will be about 30 gallons. i've done a little research, but need to do more before starting.

i think it will be a plywood base / stand, with some aluminum L's for extra structure. this will hold the base of the tank together. the glass will also be glued together with silicone, of course. i haven't quite figured out the top of the tank and the hood yet.

anyone have any similar experience? any pointers? helpful hints? encouragement? discouragement?

is glass the way to go? as opposed to acrylic. i'll probably have the glass cut to size by a shower door shop that i know. what thickness would i need if the tank is probably about 20" deep?

thanks in advance.

Default

might be a bit bigger than you planned, but I am sure you can customise it.
