Default velvet

Hi all..
My first post and have to say love the site, found it about a week ago. Anywhoo, onto my questions.. Has anyone had trouble with velvet and how did you get rid of it. I went to a LFS, starts with pet ends with co and bought some platy's and they sickened my entire tank, Ive tried rid ich, maricide, (2 bottles so far) , Melafix and none of it worked. So i bought some Coppersafe today to try that, hope this works, my ammonia is .0, havent checked my nitrites yet, ph at 7.0. I just lost my beautiful black female angel about 30ish mins ago, really bums me out, this fish was the happiest to see me when i came home..sigh. Anywhoo, thanks for any suggestions.

Coppersafe works for Velvet. Just make sure you keep putting it in your water change water for a whole month. Keep an eye on your nitrates too. Velvet thrives in poor water conditions.

I wish i had known about coppersafe, was sort of steered away from buying it by a person at the store and told to go with maracide instead. I might lose 2 more angels today, they arent looking good, Nitrite is 0.8 mg at the moment.

I think Maracide works faster. Coppersafe seems to be to be safer for sensitive fish though. I keep a small bottle of it on hand at all times personally.

Keep the Maracide as well though, it works really well for other parasites.
