i was wondering where ich came from, depthC said its always in your water unless u have a UV steralizer, which i dont have and none of my fish have had ich before??
depthc is right its always in your tank as long as the fish are healthy there immune system can fight it off, but when your fish get stressed by water quality or what not there immune system is not as strong so there is a very good chance that your fish will get ich. I think everybody knows this but the reason ich is not in you tank if you have a uv sterilizer is because everything is killed when it passes under a uv light of that strength, your bacteria is still okay because its anchored to your media. Does that make sense.
