    Default Blood Parrot Eggs!

So upon taking out my pieces of slate to move my tank, I stumbled upon some blood parrot eggs. I know that males of the species are virtually infertile, but only like 5 of the uncountable eggs are white (dead/unfertilized). If the eggs are still clear, which most are, does that mean that they are fertilized and will therefore hatch?

Possibly. But since Blood Parrots are a hybird, if fry do hatch, they seldom live long from what I've read.
    Just my 2cents,

will a female only lay eggs in the presence of a male? Plus, she laid them on the slanted ceiling of her slate cave...in order to check and see if the eggs are dying off and turning white, would it be ok to lift up the rock and check on occasion?

ehh i dont know, the dino actually keeps to himself, he's less than half the size of the parrots and they guard their nest really with at least one parrot at home at all times. So a couple last questions, when will the eggs turn white if they aren't fertilized? I'm not exactly sure when they were laid, maybe a week or two ago. Is it possible that I have two females and they are both caring for the eggs? Sorry for the noob-ish questions, I greatly appreciate all help!

if the eggs are not white or green they are likely fertile. you should see the eyes of the fry soon if they are fertile.

some blood parrots are fertile, they usually get kept by the breeder and they ship the unfertile ones off to petstores. you must have gotten lucky to grab juveniles that were healthy and fertile.

also, the bichir can see in the dark, but the blood parrots themselves have horrible eyesight. Don't be surprised if all the eggs mysteriously disappear.

Cool, that does make sense that I would get a fertile juvenile. If the female is the one that watches the eggs, then my male came from Zamzows. Thank you for the info =)

your female is likely the lighter colored of the 2. male blood parrots are usually darker and therefore worth more $$ to pet stores.

One problem...one is orange, the other is black. (not dyed)
This isn't mine but exactly what it looks like. The other is the classic orange.
