| Well I think my red mickey mouse is finally done. Took her about 48 hours to get them all out, but the final count is 24 fry! There could be more as I let her out of the breeder tank yesterday for about 8 hours until I saw her delivering more fry. So there could be more in the main tank. I am feeding them 3 times a day. I am crushing flake food and blood worms and putting it in a syringe and kind of "shooting" it at them. Is this what I am supposed to be doing? Is there anything else I should be doing? |

| yea the pellet idea is good if the breeder has good water flow, so that the water doesnt cloud and become polluted too fast. Hikari first bites are a better food for very young fry. but what youre doing is fine.

| It's important to keep fry water very clean and to get them good nutrition. They also need space to grow so they are not stunted. Breeder traps do not work well for very long, letting them out into the main tank is better if you don't want to set up a separate tank for them.

| Hikari First Bites is a much better choice than crushed flake. Get some floating plants-plastic is fine. They will hover there. You can then dust the water over the plants with First Bites instead of the whole syringe thing. I use shrimp pellets as mentioned above for them to feed on throughout the day when I am gone. Works great, but you have to keep up on your gravel vac and water changes. They're fine in the breeder for a week or two max. After that, they either need to be let lose or moved to their own tank. If your tank is heavily planted just let them out. They are quite fast at this age. This depends on the other fish in the tank too though. If they are all livebearer sized, they'll be fine. And keep the adults well fed.

| OK, that last comment doesn't sound right. Sorry. I mean keep the adults well fed and they will be less likely to bother even trying to eat the fry. The fry will be fast enough to escape any instinctive grabs at them by the adults.
