Well, guppies don't exactly "spawn", they mate. Some females are simply infertile or the males will not be interested in them to actually mate with them. Further, many times the fry will just simply be eaten before you see any.

To prevent fry from being eaten, make sure you have a lot of places in your tank for the fry to hide. Plastic fry grass can be purchased at your LFS as well as some live plants.

There are a few things you can do to make them drop their babies. If you increase the water temperature, that will help. I can't remember what else will help them drop their babies, but if I think of more, I will post it here.

Every female livebearer will have a gravid spot, whether she is pregnant or not. Sometimes an overfed female will look pregnant, even if she is not. I wouldn't worry about the fish "exasperating" unless they look unwell.

I have a female that's just plain fat. She still looks almost square the day after she delivers. They'll have their babies when they're good and ready. I would not move them or put them in breeder boxes so close to delivery. Stress can cause them to abort a brood or deliver prematurely. That is sad I had a sick molly do that as soon as I moved her to a hospital tank for medication. The poor little guys just weren't ready yet.

imy guppy ahd her fry over 8 weeks ago and then my molly had her fry 2 weeks after, then my guppy had another lot (same female) a week ago, all i can say is regular water change is 1 good factor 2 help start her. i personally use the breeding tanks although some may get eaten is she has them through the night but theres nothing we can do about that
