Default Angel Fish Eggs

When I got home today, my Angels were in the process of laying eggs. I really was not prepared for this, but we are making room in another tank. My question is, how do i know when it is ok to move the eggs to the prep tank?

They are in a community tank so I don't think they will last very long. Mom and Dad are doing everything to protect them, but I know they are not safe.

Thanks!

let the parents take care of them until they hatch. Then suck them up with a turkey baster to transport them to the new tank. Use water from the larger tank to fill the nursery tank just before transporting them.

Thanks for your help Pure. From what I have read, the eggs hatch 36-48 hrs after being laid. So, if I am lucky, I will be able to find a few when I get home.

Bunker, keep us updated. With some pics if you can too!!

I'm curious to see how you make out, as I have 5 Angels and I'm waiting for them to "match-up".

It has been 48 hrs give or take and nothing has happened. Some have turned white and others stayed clear. I was under the impression that they turn white when they were not fertilized, which to me means that the clear ones were fertilized. I will give it another day or two, it's not going to hurt anything. Fingers crossed

They take closer to 6 days to hatch so don't give up yet.

Thanks book bug. They started shaking this afternoon. Some shaked loose and feel between the pebbles. Others are still attached and shaking. They have little "tails". It is pretty awesome.

How long does it take for them to start swimming around after they break loose? I want to make sure I get them seperated as soon as I can.

Thanks

It looks like I missed it. I do not see any swiming around. I am going to put mom and dad in another tank so they can do their job with out being hassled.

thanks for the good advise all!!

Next time move them before they become free swimming. Once they become free swimming they become fair game for the inhabitants of the tank, the parents might and often do eat them as well. You only need to let the parents raise them until they hatch, once they hatch you don't need the parents anymore.
