Post Goldfish?

I read somewhere that the female goldfish is usually fatter, and I thought maybe 1 of my goldies was a female. Now I'm pretty sure, because I think she might be pregnant. She lookes fatter, but not bloated like she has dropsy, and the other one won't leave her side. How do I know for sure if the goldie is pregnant, and am I tottally wrong and she's sick, not pregnant? ??? Oh, yeah, the male seems really protective of the female.

Post Re: Goldfish?

The breeding trigger is warmer water and some sunlight, and then they begin to chase each other. If there is a thick clump of plants, the frenzied male may bash the female inot it. Then they quiver, and expel the eggs in batches. the first batch is noramlly the best. However, if there is no spawning medium, the female may be injured. The eggs are laid in tohusands, and you should dump most of the fry inot some hungry fishes mouth until you have only a few left.....the only problem thereafter is what to do with them all. They cna be raised the same way as other egglayers.
