Post Zebra danio help

Well I have been sitting around and worrying about my german rams i think i have a danio that is full of eggs......either that or she put a few lbs on....8). has anyone had these breed in thier tanks. they are in my comunity tank and i havent got another tank to pull them out. any ideas on what i should look for? 1/2 the tank has many rocks and crevasses and the other half is heavily planted with plastic plants and driftwood. the tank mates are 6 zebra danios, 2 german blue rams, and 2 corys. thanks for the help in advance  :

Post Re: Zebra danio help

hiya  kagal,
depending where she  drops the eggs like if she drops the eggs in the middle of the tank with no covering the eggs will probally get eaten very quickly but, if she drops the eggs in the rocky or planted section of the tank they might have a chance. but, if u really want to save all the eggs you could get one of those breeding traps and she could lay in their. you would get all the eggs in the trap and when you get another tank you could move them when they hatch.but beware sometimes the stress of being moved can abort the fry  P.S keep up with the water changes especially when the fry are born since the fry give off a hormone that prohibits growth. HAPPY FISHKEEPING ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Post Re: Zebra danio help

Well the first one died...... I just joined a local aquarium group and was talking to some of them and they said it was probably egg bound since if something in the water was bad my rams would have been effected before the danios....i now have a new one showing this... last night i noticed that she is now slender again......i cant find the eggs if she dropped and i am still looking to see if i see them.......

What exactly is egg bound ??? I'm  assuming it's not good since she died. Keep looking just in case ;D They may have already eaten the eggs if they're not there.

Post Re: Zebra danio help

Its when the eggs get stuck in the fish and since the fish cant get rid of them it causes death.... or thats how it was explained to me

Post Re: Zebra danio help

Okay then I doubt that the eggs are hidden somewhere. That explains a lot. ;D
