Post Angelfish

I have a pair of angelfish & one of them cranks out a set of eggs onto one of my sword plants every 4 to 5 weeks.  This has happened 4 times now, the latest installment being 2 nights ago on New Year’s Eve.

No fry have been produced as of yet however.  After a day or 2, the eggs become opaque & then start to fall off the leaves.   :'(

Does anyone know what I can do to help my fish’s efforts pay off?

I also have a pair of rams making a nest in the gravel in the same tank.  Has anyone had any experience with what needs to be done to help them along?

Thanks much.

If the eggs are turning white and then falling off, they aren't fertile to begin with. I suspect you actually have a pair of females that are, well, a little sexually deviant. Not an unusual situation.

Agreed! Or you're male may not be old enough for great fertility

Post Re: Angelfish

Thanks for the info.

I think I'll try & find some males to go with them.  I was thinking of buying 3 & hoping one is male.  I hope the 2 big girls, one is about 9" tall with ~4" diameter body, won't pick on them.

Anyone have suggestions about what I should do in case of successful fertilization?  Do I need to move the leaf witht he egss into a breeding net or somesuch?

Thanks

Oh, sorry about that. Thanks for fixing it.

You would not belive it (I still don't) but about 30min after My posts about my female angles, two of them pair off and are spawning right this moment! I thought one of them could be a male....  now the real work begins!
