Default Puffer Species

Hello everyone,
I am interested in getting a puffer fish, Im just confused about 2 species. I know that t.fluviatilis, green puffer, and t.nigroviridis, spotted puffer are 2 different species, although they look very similer. I have read that the green puffer is brackish and that the spotted puffer is fresh to light brackish, but I have also read that they are both brackish.?? I was also wondering what kind of salt do I use, aquarium salt or marine salt, or a mix of both?
