Default Common Pleco - lid banging

Has anyone ever had a common pleco (or any fish) constantly bang the tank lid? There is plenty of room in my 75 gallon tank. The water is clean and well cared for. And the pleco is well fed. This pleco bangs the lid day and night. And lately, has started to splash water out when he/she bangs.

Yeah commons do this. They are normally gulping air but are so big they can't help but bang the lid.

Wait till you see him swimming upside down sucking up flake from the surface.

I'm not sure if it will work but adding an airstone is worth trying. It may curve his need to gulp air.

Thank you for the fast reply, Pure. It's somewhat comforting to know it's not just my pleco doing this. We have 2 plecos, but just the one seems to be doing all the banging ... the fatter of the 2. Just hoping he doesn't break anything, he is very strong.

We do run a power head, for aeration and water movement purposes. It has a Quick Filter attached to it, to keep any of the smaller fishes from getting sucked in.

The plecos are fun fish, but very high maintenance ... they are pooping machines.
