Default Strictly Plant Tank

Does anyone out there have just a planted tank with no fish? For raising or growing plants? Or an experience in the area?

I have had planted tanks before, and do now, but just wondering if it is hard or easy to have a tank that is only plants, and to make them grow really great and algae free. Sort of like a freshwater plant farm. And then I could sell some of the extras to some locals

honestly i think it would be easier as long as you stay away from the estimative index method, you wouldn't have to ritually perform water changes. In a planted tank though your definitely going to need the balance of c02, lighting and fert or algae will become a problem in any tank.

Yes i could see that. But too much ferts = algae just as much as too little ferts? or what?

Yes. It is actually easier than with fish in some ways, since you do not have the 'unknown' factor of how much ammonia they will add to the water column.

I have an emersed growth tank... the roots are underwater, but the plants themselves are above it.

I'm doing that for the sake of growing out plants. They grow out quicker that way.
