|  Kissing Gourami Eating Plants Hi all, my kissing gourami is eating most every plant I put into my tank. I have tried a few different plants and each have been munched on severely. I currently keep the Anubias v. nana, amazon sword, and java moss, with minimal signs of picking. I was wonderine of plants that would be less likely to be eaten by fish. Any suggestions are great, thanks.

| my favorite family I keep anabans as a staple in my 180. I found keeping ceratopteris thalictroides in the center of my tank getting all that light puts the gouramies at bay some . It grows like mad and they like to shread the baby plant off for nests . Also i found plantin things like rotala you have to spread it around . They may leave it alone some places and not others . Lastly kissing gouramies will never go in my tank for that and more reasons ( they are cool though). Oh by the way four leave clover must be the tastiest plant ever they say haha. |

| Gouramis tend to go for fine-leaved plants most of all. Other anubias species, Java fern, and mosses will be your best bet. You might get away with swords, if you can get large ones. I did read somewhere that they shred plants to provide more cover. If you add a lot more plants, they may stop (but no guarantees). |

| Thanks for the replies. I was looking at java fern and have a sword in the tank right now. It has been thinned a bit and some leaves have been chopped down, but it still has lots of good leaves and new growth daily. I like to have a bit of height to the decor in the tank, will a java fern be tall enough(close to top of 29g)?
