Default 29g light?

I am assuming I should change out the bulb that came with my tank. I can't even remember what it came with. I really don't like how it looks either. I will be using the standard hood that came with the tank.

I only want my tank lightly planted, with easy plants- java fern, maybe anubias of some sort- still doing research.

So, what should I get. I don't think I need anything rockstar, but I would like a small upgrade.

I don't know yet if I will be doing CO2. Probably not. I'm looking for very beginner.

Erm, need to know anything else?

I haven't even started cycling it yet. It is full of sand, and water. It's been sitting for 2 weeks now I think. It has settled very nicely. I'll do a water change before planting.

Obviously, I'm still a long way from fish. I've decided on: yoyo loaches, a school of tetra (not sure which yet), maybe a betta... I dunno, I'm still looking. The loaches are the only definite- love the guys.

Thanks everyone!

I've decided on my lighting for a lightly planted 29g. I am taking the old hood and turning it into a compact flourescent hood. There is a great description of how to do this in the DIY section. Looks super easy, and will give plenty of light in your tank to put nearly any plant in it. I am looking forward to the upgrade, cheap too!! Good luck with your plants, tank, and fish!!
