Default Plant pics

Thought I'd post some pics of my current plants! Many are still new & developing, but these are some that I've had for a while and are doing well.

Rotala macrandra:

Rotala verticillaris:

Rotala verticilaris & Rotala macrandra:

Rotala sp. 'Vietnam':

All three together w/ Echinodorus angustifolius in the background:

There's really nothing special about growing these plants. Tank conditions are as follows:

29g w/ 65w PC (All-Glass 8000K bulb & AHS reflector suspended 5" above tank), ADA Amazonia Aquasoil + Powersand + Tourmaline BC, CO2, NPK (10ppm/0.5 ppm/?), 10mL Traces every other day, 2mL Flourish Iron every day, 8-10mL Flourish Excel about 4x a week. I do use 100% RO water...there are no fish in this tank yet.

<----- is very jealous

Where do you get such an array of plants?? All I seem to be able to get from my LFS are standard plants, not like what you have . Those are some very beautiful varieties of rotala though.

I get them from other plant nerds on the internet. It's getting difficult to find certain plants...like the R. vietnam & R. goias. Shops don't carry plants like these; there are maybe a handful of shops in the US that do and usually they are trade-ins or happen to have a good source from overseas. I always keep my eyes open for the plants I like. I usually don't go for the latest and greatest, but just plants I either like from experience, or plants I think I would like. Sometimes I just don't like to be beaten by a plant. For example, the last time I tried R. macrandra, I didn't do so well (had to rip them all out). Now, you can see I'm doing ok with it, and this plant has been around for forever. My motto is "there's no plant I can't grow."
