good luck | Thanks! I hope it does go quickly. I've got two emerald catfish, a school of gold pristella tetras and a pineapple swordtail who will love their new home (even if they don't know it yet!).
Now, I have to decide what to do with 10G. I may do like you and get some neon tetras. I've decided that that tank looks good with red fish in it. |

| hey alter40, i have found myself a jug of ammonia. It is pure ammonia. Now i really tried to read up on your thread here but you said that you just added ammonia not how much. Is there a formula for how much i should be adding and if there is a difference in ammonia in my bottle compared to yours? Like if mine is stronger how much. Anyways just wanting to get my cycle on its way and was wondering how you found how much to add and so on thanks. |

| Get a medicine dropper of some kind and just add a few drops then let it sit for 15 minutes and test your water for ammonia. It really doesn't take much ammonia at all for this and what you want to do is get the ammonia up to 5ppm. Then check it in a few days and add more ammonia if needed to get your level back up to 5ppm. Keep doing this and keep your ammonia up till it will disappear in 24 hours and your nitrites are 0 and nitrates are up around 5 and your cycle should be done. Missfishy has a great link in her signature describing all of this probably better then I have here so you can check that out.
Also I just want to mention that some changes are coming to my tank tonight so be sure to check back for picture updates! There are going to be some plants changed around, some trimmed up and maybe a new plant or two if something catches my eye at the LFS today.
