| Well, after 4 doses of EM, returning to dosing macros and trace ferts, adjusting the bubble counter on the CO2 to make sure I'm right at about 1 bubble per second (it was more like 1 every 2 seconds before) and the massive cleaning last weekend, I think I'm winning the war on BGA. I'm getting new growth and re-energized color in all of my plants, and my anubias has thrown out a new leaf in the last day or two. I've got one more dose of EM to go.
Pure, I think you're right - the detritus was from the dying BGA. Since the massive clean, I haven't seen it return except in small amounts from the last bits of BGA.
I hope to get some pictures this weekend, as well as adding some new fish - I really miss my loach shoal and my SAEs, so I hope both can happen this weekend. |

| Man, sounds great! I can't wait to see pics! Those loaches are probably a real crack up... I can't wait to have a setup that is loach friendly (besides the spazzy Kuhlis LOL) I want some yoyos really bad, and the zebras are awesome too. I love how you keep us updated, you and Big V just make me happy, I love hearing detailed reports on other people's tanks. I get to learn and be entertained.

| In addition to the plants mentioned in the top post on this thread, I also have Ludwigia repens and Hygrophila polysperma, or Green Hygro. |

| Update & Pictures catch-up April 21, 2007
I did a water change (RO) this morning, and also made some planting adjustments. First, I removed most of the green hygro (except for one or two stems in the back right of the tank) because it was starting to get out of control again, and because my other slower-growing plants have taken hold and I no longer needed the hygro to be a "nutrient sponge." I also cut the rather large adventitious shoot off of my compact sword, separated the plantlets from the shoot itself, and planted them around the tank. I now have 6 compact swords, although only one of them actually has any real size.
I planted one of the swords through the hole in the lace rock where I used to have my anubias before I moved it to the rock work on the right side of the tank. It's a little compressed in the hole, but I'm hopeful that it will take root and grow - it's a really neat effect.
Tomorrow is the GCCA Swap Meet, and I'm really geared up for it. I'm as happy with my tank as I have been since the CO2 disaster, particularly because I feel like I'm past the "new tank" issues I got a taste of (algae, etc.) when I re-set it up. Even before I did the vacuum and water change today, the tank still looked clean, which I always take as a good sign -- and I've had no real algae growth since the last of the BGA died off.
Here's a quick glance at the current state of the tank:
Many, many more pictures to come...
(Also, thoughts on the new avatar? That's a shot I've been saving for a while ) |

| Holy crap, your tank looks awesome!
I don't even know where to begin commenting on what I like...everything seems to have come together quite well.
Love that new avatar pic...is it one of your amano shrimp (is that even what is in the pic, or is it something else, lol?)?

| Yep, it's one of my shrimp. Looks more like some kind of freakish alien at that angle, though - not to mention he's kind of glowing
Speaking of avatars, I'm liking the return to the blue cray for you - it just seems right that you have a cray as your avatar |
