Potentially exciting developments...

For the last few days, I've noticed the male apisto has taken up residence in one of the flower pot caves, but hesitated to get too excited because the female was spending a lot of her time on the other side of the tank.

Well, yesterday, the female was hanging out in front of the cave, and flaring at anyone that approached

I don't think there are eggs yet, and I'm skeptical that any eggs/fry could escape the loaches -- but it's exciting nonetheless

Actually I don't know for sure... I have always called him a boy and assumed he was a boy, all his features lead to being male, but I have yet to notice any substantial odontodes.

Who knows, Jeff, maybe they'll surprise you and you'll see some apisto fry swimming around in there one day when you least expect it.

Well, I've got another new arrival - but this time it's flora, not fauna.

LWB was kind enough to send me some terrific E. tenellus sprouts, and I managed to find room for pretty much all of them around the foreground of my tank. I also moved some of the L. repens to the back, where it's better off now that it's grown fairly tall. I also trimmed back the hygro in the back right corner - it was starting to take over again, and will be back up and filling the corner with bright green again very soon.

Here are some updated full tank shots (forgive the cloudy water - I kicked up a good amount of dust planting and replanting):

I also checked the apisto flower pot -- no eggs. But they're still defending it as "their" territory...
